  • My name is Joe Nichols, and it’s an honor to be part of the vibrant community at Lewis and Clark Middle School. As I embark on my 23rd year in education, I look back with gratitude and pride at a career dedicated to fostering student growth and innovation.

My journey in education began in Boonville, MO, where I started as an Art teacher and coach at Laura Speed Elliott Middle School. From there, I moved to Blair Oaks Elementary to continue teaching Art, nurturing young minds and sparking creativity. My path led me to the Jefferson City School District 17 years ago, where I began as the District Instructional Technology Specialist. In this role, I supported and trained staff in navigating technology, laying a foundation for a more connected and informed educational environment.

This year marks my 14th at Lewis and Clark Middle School, where I’ve had the privilege of serving as an Assistant Principal for the past 8 years. Lewis and Clark is not just a school; it’s where the Jay Trail begins, and it’s filled with fantastic students and a dedicated staff committed to student success. I am proud to be part of a team that strives to make a difference every day and to call myself a Trailblazer and a Jay.

I was born and raised in Jefferson City and graduated from Jefferson City High School. I pursued my higher education with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Lincoln University, a Master of Instructional Technology from the University of Missouri, and an Education Specialist Degree in School Administration from William Woods University.

Outside of my professional life, I treasure time with my wonderful wife and our four children. Family is my anchor and joy, and I relish every moment spent with them.

My career has been a rewarding journey of growth and learning, and I am excited to continue contributing to the success of our students and the community at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
