Mr. Ben Smythe
I have been a teacher at Capital City High School for five years. I am currently teaching US Government and AP European History. I was born in St. Louis, but grew up 30 minutes west of the city in O'Fallon, MO. I used an A+ Scholarship to attend St. Charles Community College for two years, before transferring to Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I finished a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2019 and a Master of Arts in Social Studies Education in 2020. In 2022, I was awarded the James Madison Memorial Fellowship, the most prestigious award in Social Studies Education, which is currently helping me finish a Master of Arts in American Constitutional History from the University of Missouri. In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, and playing my guitar. I also enjoy watching sports, and you can usually find me at CCHS sporting events or cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team.
I'm looking forward to the school year and helping my students develop into engaged and informed citizens. We are going to have a lot of fun this year!
