Bob James Named Outstanding Administrator by the Speech and Theater Association of Missouri
Congratulations to JCHS Principal Bob James on receiving the Outstanding Administrator award from the Speech and Theater Association of Missouri (STAM)!
Jordan Hart, JCHS speech, debate, and English teacher and head coach of the debate/forensics team, nominated Mr. James. In his nomination, Mr. Hart commended Mr. James for his unwavering commitment and support of the speech and debate team as well as fine arts at JCHS. As the JCHS Speech and Debate Team has grown over the years, Mr. James always ensured the team had the necessary resources to continue its success.
In his nomination, Mr. Hart wrote: “Mr. James is one of the rare administrators who see the fine arts as a necessary tool to enhance the literacy, critical thinking, and eloquence of the students attending our school. In my six years serving as the head speech and debate coach, Mr. James’ leadership has been both evident in word and deed. His character, leadership, and commitment to excellence in speech, debate, and theatre make Mr. James the most qualified administrator to earn this award.”
Hart also applauded Mr. James for his administrative style of servant leadership, giving several heartwarming examples:
“It is not rare for his staff to receive an email during snowy weather that says that after bus duty, he will be going through scraping ice off teachers' cars to help make their journeys home as quickly as possible. His humility extends beyond scraping ice off windows also. Mr. James is one that offers his ears if you have a bad day or need advice. He is one that willingly listens, gives great feedback, and ensures you have the resources needed to improve. While many teachers may grumble at the sight of an administrator walking into your classroom because of their evaluative power, my colleagues and I look forward to visits from our boss because we know that he bathes all of his criticism in empathy and genuinely cares about the health and well-being of his teachers.”
Congratulations, again, Mr. James, and thank you for everything you do!
