Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. Steve Barnes

I am excited  to join the Thomas Jefferson Middle School team this year as your new assistant principal.  I grew up and graduated from Cole Camp, Missouri. I received my first degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia.  My degree from Mizzou was a Bachelor Degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and I started my professional career working for the Missouri Department of Conservation doing research on crayfish.  After several years working there I decided to change careers and completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from William Woods University in Fulton.  I began my education career as a middle school science teacher and that is when I fell in love with education and I knew I made the right move.  This is my 21 year in education, with 15 years of administrative experience.  In 2012 I completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Maryville University in St. Louis.

When I am not at school you can usually find me outside near some body of water or with friends and family.  My spouse and I have four grown children (Julian, Tyler, Levi, and Ross) and two grandkids (Brooklyn and Felix).

I am looking forward to this new adventure in my career and so proud to be a Patriot!
