    Due Date:  Friday, August 23, 2024

    Activity Registration:  Every orchestra student in grades 9-12 will need to create an Activity Registration profile unless they have already done so.  Everything in Activity Registration needs to be completed except for the physical.  Orchestra students do not need a physical.  As per the Activities Department, every student must have a completed Activity Registration profile before they will be allowed to participate in any activity or athletic event.

    JCHS Orchestra Course Descriptions

    JC Jays Symphonic Orchestra

    Course Description: Symphonic Orchestra will develop advanced technical and interpretive skills, playing music with a variety of key signatures, unusual meters, complex rhythms and subtle dynamics through advanced music literature selected from a variety of musical periods.   Entrance to class is by audition only as well as the requirement for a balanced ensemble.  Certain performances are required.  In performance classes, grades will be directly affected by participation in required concerts and other activities.  Prerequisite:  Auditions in the spring of the previous school year.

    JC Jays Concert Orchestra One and Two

    Course Description:  Concert Orchestra will continue to develop and enhance the student’s technical skills and musical concepts through intermediate to advanced music literature selected from a variety of periods.  Membership is by audition only.  Certain performances are required.  In performance classes, grades will be directly affected by participation in required concerts and other activities.
